Description

POSITION: School Social Worker (FT, 10-month)

ASSIGNMENT: Human Support Services - Student Assistance Services

SITE/BUILDING: Edward J. Milliken Technical Center, Oakdale, NY

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NYS School Social Worker Certification
  • Knowledge and experience in substance use prevention, early intervention, and counseling
  • Experience providing individual and group counseling to school-age students
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) and programming
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive practices and the social-emotional needs of diverse student populations
  • Bilingual preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide school-based substance use prevention, early intervention, and counseling services consistent with program and district goals
  • Deliver universal, evidence-based prevention and counseling curricula to students in classroom and groups settings
  • Integrate social-emotional learning, mindfulness, stress management, and self-regulation strategies into prevention and counseling services
  • Conduct parent/family education and outreach to strengthen connections between school, home and community
  • Collaborate with school personnel and community partners to identify student needs and connect students and families with appropriate resources and supports
  • Support implementation of the New York State Mental Health Education Initiative and related school-based mental health education requirements
  • Deliver services/trainings using Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Educational Practices (CR-SE) framework
  • Maintain appropriate program documentation and participate in professional development, supervision, and program evaluation activities as required

START DATE: As soon as possible

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $69,427.00
