School Social Worker

The School District of Bowler is seeking to employ a K-12 School Social Worker for a 1.0 FTE to be part of an innovative professional learning community. The ideal candidate will possess certification by Wisconsin DPI, a Master''s Degree in Social Work and certification as a social worker by the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing. Candidates seeking to complete certification will also be considered.

The ideal candidate would have 3 years of experience in a recognized social service agency working with children and families and training in a school-related and/or social work setting. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work closely with the director of special education, pupil services, IEP teams and building-level administration to support prevention, early intervention, staff development and parental engagement activities to reduce or eliminate the social, economic and environmental barriers that may interfere with a student''s ability to maximally benefit from his/her education.

The ideal candidate will also have the ability to:

• direct service including behavior intervention to the child and his/her family;
• work with individuals or small groups of children;
• inform school personnel of social work findings through the evaluation process;
• act as a liaison person with other community social agencies;
• coordinate with guidance counselors, teachers and support staff;
• assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies for the school district;
• assist families with the resources needed for the child to be successful in school;
• have an understanding and appreciation for cultural and human diversity.
