    School Psychologist Specialist - SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulation, and policies regarding children's special education eligibility and programming.
    • Manages, monitors, and facilitates the work responsibilities for departmental school psychologists.
    • Selects and administers age appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student.
    • Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.
    • Participates in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
    • Participates in other pertinent meetings at various schools assigned, as needed.
    • Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding psychological services and the academic/psychological needs of students.
    • Provides in-service training and workshops for teachers and staff regarding students with disabilities and proper procedures for the identification and referral of students.
    • Ensure compliance of testing regulations that apply to school based psychological testing services.
    • Consult with residential facility and private schools for SPED related testing services.
    • Conduct behavioral classroom/school observations.
    • Assist in designing a behavior management plan as an intervention.
    • Work with parents, teachers and administrators to develop strategies to address learning and behavior difficulties.
    • Prepare timely reports to maintain timelines for paperwork completion and conferences.
    • Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of school psychology and shares with colleagues.
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must hold a valid teaching certificate and necessary credentials for a State approved Psychological Examiner License or School Psychology Specialist, or Licensed Professional Examiner.
    • Experience in conducting and interpreting evaluations and behavior modification development and producing written evaluation reports.
    • Have knowledge of current research, changes, and trends to facilitate positive behavior support.
    • Must display excellent people skills.

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • 12 month contract
