Under limited supervision, monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual
Education
Plan
(IEP)
conferences
and
problem-solving
meetings,
designing
systems,
programs,
and
services
that
maximize
students'
social,
emotional,
and
educational
success.
Contributes
to
the
creation
of
individualized
education
programs
for
students
with
disabilities
and
aids
in
ensuring
District
compliance
with
state
and
federal
laws
related
to
students
with
disabilities.
Carries
out
additional
professional,
administrative,
and
supervisory
responsibilities
as
needed.
Reports
directly
to
the
Director
of
Special
Services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides
an
atmosphere
and
environment
conducive
to
the
intellectual,
physical,
social,
and
emotional
development
of
students.
Develops
a
plan
each
year
to
address
the
academic,
social/personal,
and
psychological
needs
of
students;
the
plan
must
support
and
be
consistent
with
the
school
improvement
plan,
which
in
turn
supports
system-wide
goals.
Serves
on
a
variety
of
committees
or
teams,
such
as
the
School
Improvement
Team,
Student
Services
Team,
Instructional
Intervention
Team,
Crisis
Intervention
Team,
Positive
Behavioral
Interventions
and
Supports
Team,
Psychological
Services
Committee,
and
teams
related
to
regional
programs
that
may
be
housed
in
the
school.
Conducts
needs
assessments
to
determine
problem
areas
requiring
intervention,
develop
and
implement
interventions,
monitor
the
effectiveness
of
interventions,
and
adjust
as
necessary.
Attends
required
training
and
meetings.
Attends
I.E.P.
meetings
for
new
referrals
or
for
students
for
whom
an
assessment
is
recommended,
and
for
students
on
the
School
Psychologist's
caseload,
and
for
students'
annual
or
interim
reviews,
when
necessary.
Attends
504
meetings;
may
serve
as
the
facilitator
for
those
meetings.
Observes
students
in
the
classroom,
in
activities,
and
during
lunch
periods.
Collects
and
assesses
behavioral
data.
Consults
with
teachers
regarding
classroom
management
and
behavioral,
emotional,
and
academic
issues.
Consults
with
administrators
regarding
school-wide
issues.
Consults
with
parents
regarding
issues
concerning
their
children
and
obtains
information
required
for
evaluations
Consults
with
professionals
outside
of
the
school
system
who
are
providing
services
to
students.
Develops
and
implements
training
sessions
for
teachers,
covering
such
topics
as
student
learning,
alternative
instructional
methods,
behavior,
abuse,
bullying,
suicide
prevention,
crisis
prevention/intervention,
conflict
resolution,
and
issues
related
to
special
education,
Section
504,
and
diversity.
Administers
cognitive,
social-emotional,
and
behavioral
assessments
to
students;
prepares
reports
analyzing
test
results
in
conjunction
with
educational
performance,
classroom
observation,
medical
history,
and
educational
programming.
Provides
assistance
in
the
application
and
monitoring
process
for
students
receiving
home/hospital
education
due
to
emotional
or
psychological
problems.
May
conduct
home
visits.
Provides
crisis
intervention
services
for
students,
teachers,
and
the
school
community.
Participates
in
the
determination
of
referrals
to
alternative
education
programs
within
the
school
system;
updates
psychological
evaluations
if
alternative
services
are
being
considered.
Develops
behavioral
plans
with
teachers
and/or
behavioral
specialists.
May
refer
students
to
outside
resources;
assist
parents
in
selecting
outside
providers
and
other
resource
agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Requires a Master's degree or higher in school psychology supplemented by one to two years of experience
in
special
education
administration,
or
an
equivalent
combination
of
education,
training,
and
experience
that
provides
the
required
knowledge,
skills,
and
abilities.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers,
copiers,
projectors,
and
other
office
equipment.
Must
