Ampersand Therapy is hiring a School Psychologist for a full-time leave-coverage position in the Bothell, Washington area. This assignment will exclusively support preschool-aged students as part of a collaborative early childhood assessment team.

Job Highlights:

  • Position: Early Childhood School Psychologist

  • Setting: In-person, school-based position

  • Schedule: Full Time, 1.0 FTE, Monday–Friday

  • Approximate Hours: 7:30 AM–3:30 PM

  • Assignment Dates: September 14, 2026–April 2, 2027

  • Grade Levels: Preschool, serving children ages 3–5

  • Primary Focus: Evaluations for children transitioning from birth-to-three services.

  • Team Environment: Collaborative early childhood assessment team that includes school psychologists, SLPs, occupational and physical therapists, nurses, teachers, and families

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and reevaluations for preschool-aged students

  • Assess students referred through Child Find and birth-to-three transition services

  • Administer, score, and interpret developmentally appropriate cognitive, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive assessments

  • Gather and analyze information through observations, interviews, record reviews, and standardized testing

  • Prepare clear, thorough, and family-friendly evaluation reports

  • Determine students’ eligibility for special education services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

  • Participate in evaluation, eligibility, transition, and Individualized Education Program meetings

  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, SLPs, occupational and physical therapists, nurses, teachers, families, and other service providers

  • Communicate evaluation findings and recommendations clearly and compassionately to families and team members

  • Support the development of appropriate educational programming, interventions, and services

  • Maintain accurate records and complete documentation within required timelines

  • Ensure evaluations and services comply with state, federal, and district requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or educational specialist degree in School Psychology

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate with a School Psychologist endorsement

  • Experience conducting early childhood or preschool assessments

  • Knowledge of Child Find, birth-to-three transitions, and early childhood special education eligibility

  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate assessment practices for children ages 3–5

  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration and family-communication skills

  • Knowledge of special education laws, evaluation procedures, and eligibility requirements

  • Must have current fingerprints on file with OSPI or be willing to complete

  • Must provide at least two supervisory references

  • Previous experience on an early childhood assessment team preferred
