    To manage and maintain the educational quality of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and ensure compliance with the Licensing Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards, SOM Central Curriculum Authority Committee (CCAC) guidelines and other regulatory requirements. Responsible for the alignment, implementation and compliance of the LCME standards and managing real-time curricular and assessment mapping.

    Description of Duties

    • Provides direction and guidance regarding the administration of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program in alignment with LCME accreditation standards.
    • Provides support to OEA Curricular Deans in the development, review, and alignment of curriculum and related products with CCAC and LCME accreditation standards.
    • Develops, implements and oversees the curriculum mapping process for all UME content, activities, sessions and assessment for all four years of the curriculum.
    • Directs yearly curricular mapping and data entry, updates and evaluation through the learning management system (One45) for LCME accreditation and internal curricular reviews.
    • Establishes operating procedures, policies, and guidelines to improve curricular operational efficiency.
    • Monitors and tracks each phase of the UME curriculum (Pre-Clerkship & Clerkship) to ensure compliance with LCME standards, CCAC policies and procedures and related OEA departmental policies.
    • Manages curriculum mapping and tacking reports on an ongoing basis for internal program reviews, CCAC annual reviews, and compliance in alignment with LCME and national curricular standards.
    • Participates in the planning, developing, and implementing UME program quality improvement activities.
    • Reviews and updates/creates, interprets and enforces UME program standards, schedules, and policies on a daily basis.
    • Plans and prepares UME academic and testing calendars to submit to CCAC, Office of the Registrar, Student Affairs and all other SOM UME stakeholders.
    • Supervises and addresses curricular scheduling conflicts for students and faculty for MS years 1-4.
    • Oversee yearly clinical site visits to monitor student activities and academic learning environment for accreditation.
    • Oversees and participates in the hiring, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Education

    Bachelor's degree in Education, Health Professions Education, Educational Technology/ Instructional Design, or related degree from an accredited university or Master's degree from an accredited university and one (1) year of the required experience.

    Preferred Education

    Master's degree in Education, Health Professions Education, Educational Technology/ Instructional Design.

    Licenses/Certifications

    None.

    Required Experience

    Three (3) years of professional experience performing closely related duties or experience working with curriculum or experience working with external auditors.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience obtained in a higher education setting.

    Equipment

    Use of standard office equipment. Competent in MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook Email, Microsoft Web Expression (or other web development software); experience with Blackboard and Access is preferred.

    Working Conditions

    Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

    Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements at the Undergraduate Medical Education level (LCME, SACSCOC, etc). Knowledge of assessment tools, curricular design, objective and assessment mapping. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Ability to interpret rules and regulations and implement changes as needed. Ability to work within a flexible team environment in support of new and developing policies, processes, and efficiencies.
