School Nutrition Supervisor

Primary Purpose: Provides leadership, technical direction, and operational support to School Nutrition managers and staff at assigned campuses. Supervises and coordinates food service operations to support the preparation and service of balanced meals to students and staff while ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant program operations. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Associate's degree in food service management, Business Management, or equivalent preferred; three years of related experience required. Current Food Handlers card obtained from the Bell County Public Health District, or ServSafe Sanitation Certificate, or Bell County Certified Food Manager Course Certificate.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: Provides technical direction and operational support to School Nutrition managers and staff in the administration of School Nutrition programs at assigned schools.

Visits, supports, and inspects assigned campus cafeterias and conducts onsite reviews of School Nutrition operations.

Supervises cafeteria managers and coordinates activities related to food preparation, meal service, and cleaning of kitchen and dining areas.

Assists with concession operations and other district food service activities, as assigned

Collaborates with the School Nutrition HR Specialist to coordinate staffing and assign School Nutrition personnel to cafeterias as needed.

Guides and supports managers and assistant managers in addressing employee performance and disciplinary matters; handles disciplinary issues escalated beyond the manager level.

Assumes the responsibilities of a cafeteria manager during a prolonged absence when needed.

Analyzes School Nutrition operations for cost effectiveness and reviews grocery orders for accuracy.

Implements improvements and necessary changes in food preparation, meal service, menus, facilities, and equipment.

Maintains working knowledge of School Nutrition equipment replacement and maintenance needs.

Develops and provides training on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.

Provides training at manager meetings and teaches relevant classes in the School Nutrition Training Program.

Trains newly assigned and other personnel in School Nutrition procedures, operations, and expectations.

Ensures adherence to School Nutrition program requirements and applicable federal, state, local, and district laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including HACCP and TPSNP (Texas Public School Nutrition Policy) requirements related to sanitation, safety, and student portion control.

Prepares reports on the efficiency of School Nutrition operations.

Performs weekend on-call duties for HVAC monitoring.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises School Nutrition cafeteria managers and provides oversight of cafeteria staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include employee training, work planning and assignment, performance appraisal, employee recognition and discipline, complaint resolution, and problem solving.
