Schedule: Monday–Friday, following the FCPS academic calendar. Approximately 7 hours per school day plus ½ hour unpaid lunch. Includes accompanying assigned student on FCPS field trips and, when applicable, FCPS bus transportation to/from school.

We were recently awarded a multi-year contract with Frederick County Public Schools to provide Private Duty Nursing services for medically fragile students.
What You'll Do
You will be assigned as the dedicated Private Duty Nurse for one medically fragile FCPS student during the school day. You'll ensure the student can safely access their educational program by providing skilled nursing care per physician orders. Typical responsibilities include:
• Administering medications, tube feedings (G-tube/J-tube), suctioning, tracheostomy care, and seizure protocols per Health Care Provider orders
• Monitoring vital signs, respiratory status, and clinical changes with measurable parameters
• Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), transfers, positioning, and toileting (following OSHA safe-lift guidelines — single-person transfers ⤠35 lbs; two-person transfers ⤠70 lbs; PT team provides refresher training)
• Documenting all care in the student's daily nursing record and providing copies to the school health staff at time of visit
• Coordinating with the FCPS School Nurse, Health Services Specialist, and classroom teacher
• Accompanying the student on field trips and school transportation
Requirements
Active Maryland RN license in good standing (Compact license accepted)
Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (pediatric, school health, home health, PICU, or NICU strongly preferred)
Ability to pass FCPS fingerprint-based criminal background check (Adam Walsh Act / Child Care background) and MSDE Employment History Review for child abuse and sexual misconduct
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical duties associated with student care
Reliable transportation to Frederick County school sites
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ventilator-dependent, tracheostomy, or medically complex pediatric patients
• Prior school-based nursing experience
• Familiarity with IEP/504 accommodations

Pay: $46.00 – $48.00 per hour (based on experience with pediatric, trach/vent, or complex medical needs)
