Qualifications:

• Current New Jersey RN License
• Bachelor's Degree
• New Jersey State School Nurse Certification
• CPR Certification

Job Goal: To assist students in maintaining and improving health status to facilitate readiness for learning and to promote positive health habits and attitudes.

Reports To: School Principal

Performance Responsibilities:

• Provides appropriate direct medical services to students.
• Provide health counseling to students, parents and staff.
• Assesses the physical well-being of the student in terms of developmental and present health status.
• Participates with the child Study Team in interpreting implications of significant medical findings.
• Maintains a comprehensive health history and health appraisal record system consistent with state and local requirements.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
• Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
• Prepares and submits reports for the superintendent and the State Board of health.
• Provides emergency card for accidents and illnesses in the school as determined by the professional judgment of the certified school nurse.
• Administers medication and treatments to student as per specified approved written policy.
• Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school, the administrative staff and the Board of Education and interprets the policies and programs of the school in a positive and constructive manner.
• Understands and implements appropriate action pertaining to state, county, and local school health district health laws and regulations governing public schools.
• Pursues areas of professional growth with the understanding this is a continual process to enhance the nurse's skills.

Terms of Employment: Ten months; Salary negotiable as per agreement
