SALARY: $15.00 per hour.
Typical hours: 8:45 a.m.–9:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.–3:45 p.m.
LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs – Department of Public Safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) must be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form:
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, OR
- At least 18 years of age and one (1) year of experience working with children.
DUTIES: Responsible for directing traffic in the vicinity of schools to ensure the safety of children. This work involves exceptional responsibility for protecting children going to and returning from school and requires considerable vigilance. Work is performed independently with occasional supervision. The incumbent performs related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Directs traffic near schools.
- Tells children when they may cross streets.
- Assists children in crossing streets.
- Keeps control of children playing near the street.
- Instructs children in basic safety practices.
