St. Maria Goretti Catholic School is seeking a full time School Counselor for the 2026-27 School Year. St. Maria Goretti is a PreK-8th grade school located in Westfield, Indiana. All interested candidates for this position must possess a knowledge of the school's mission, an understanding of the Catholic faith, and a willingness to lead in a faith based setting.
This role supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students by identifying and addressing barriers to learning and addressing them through a faith-based approach. The ideal candidate will provide a combination of counseling, behavioral support, and social-emotional interventions while working closely with students, staff, families, and community partners. This position plays a key role in supporting our MTSS framework, building positive relationships, and creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Indiana license in one of the following areas:
- School Counselor
- School Social Worker
- Behavior Specialist / related licensure
- Master's Degree (preferred) in:
- School Counseling, Social Work, Behavior Analysis, or related field
- Experience working with elementary students preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships and maintain confidentiality
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide student support with a faith-based approach consistent with our Catholic mission
- Provide individual and small group support to students focused on social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Participate in MTSS processes, including data review and intervention planning
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom behavior and student engagement
- Serve as a liaison between school, home and community resources
- Coordinate guest speakers/convocations to support students social, emotional and behavioral health
- Provide crisis intervention and support during critical events
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and supports
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with FERPA
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
