What You''ll Do

As our Secondary School Counselor, you''ll be the cornerstone of student support, helping shape the next generation through comprehensive guidance services. Your role will include:

Student-Centered Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling addressing academic, personal, and social development
  • Guide students through course selection, scheduling, and educational planning
  • Support college and career readiness through post-secondary planning and financial aid assistance
  • Coordinate crisis intervention and at-risk student support services

Community Collaboration:

  • Build strong partnerships with parents, faculty, and community agencies
  • Organize engaging programs, including college visits, career speakers, and financial aid workshops
  • Maintain connections with local employers for student work opportunities and apprenticeships

Comprehensive Student Services:

  • Administer and interpret assessments for academic and career planning
  • Coordinate special education referrals and support services
  • Monitor student progress and graduation requirements
  • Lead suicide prevention and substance abuse intervention programs

Professional Leadership:

  • Serve as District Assessment Coordinator
  • Collaborate with faculty committees, including IEP teams, PBIS, and Career Readiness
  • Contribute to K-12 developmental guidance program implementation

What We''re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Current certification and license as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • Strong understanding of developmental guidance processes and career development theory
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, faculty, and community members
  • Ability to analyze student data and develop targeted intervention strategies
