    MOU Sign-on Bonus: Each teacher in grades PKâ8 who works in one of our Wilmington schools for one full year shall receive a total bonus of $3,500. This bonus will be paid in two (2) lump-sum payments during the year.

    Qualifications:

    • Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certificationâ Elementary School Counselor
    • Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday
    • Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
    • Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collects, utilizes, and disseminates current educational and occupational information.
    • Assists students to identify and to determine the significance of their pattern of abilities, achievements, interests, and potentials.
    • Organizes relevant student records and handles them with discretion and according to professional standards, ethic and the confidentiality laws.
    • Stay abreast of the laws, policies, and procedures that govern the schools. The counselor also participates in professional associations and upgrades professional knowledge and skills when needed.
    • Conducts individual and small group counseling session with students.
    • Conducts group guidance classes when necessary with an organized and pertinent program based on current research and/or best practices.
    • Act as student advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis-situations.
    • Collaborate with outside agencies/doctors/clinicians.
    • Serve as case manager for students as needed.
    • Conducts conferences and consults with the students, parents, and professional associates.
    • Document counseling notes, prepare reports and maintain confidentiality of records relating to student support.

    • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students concerning their academic and behavioral progress.
    • Acts in ways, which are likely to promote student's feelings of self-worth.
    • Encourages students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules.
    • Keeps accurate records and makes reports as required.
    • Develop and implement a Guidance Counselor Plan annually
    • Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students.
