Description:

The School Counseling Specialist assists in coordinating various services for students and tasks for the Office of Counseling Services. The Specialist arranges for and oversees all necessary home and virtual instruction for students who are absent, or who are otherwise in need of such instruction. The Specialist also completes or coordinates all tasks related to the registration of new students, the implementation of any required placement or other testing (in cooperation with Department Supervisors and others), the verification of residency for new and current students, and all other tasks related to registration and residency. The Specialist also liaises with any investigative resources that the District specifies for residency investigations. The Specialist also coordinates the District's Choice Program, services for McKinney-Vento and other students in similar attendance situations, certain state and federal reporting, and more.

Duties:

  • Serve as a cooperative and positive contact for families of new and current students during registration, residency, and all other processes related to job functions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of registration and verification of residency, in cooperation with and under the direction of appropriate administrative staff members.
  • Collect and ensure accurate recording of registration data, including but not limited to emergency contact, immunization, prior academic achievement and transcripts, special education and 504 documentation, and proof of residency.
  • Coordinate all aspects of registration and partner/family liaising to enroll approved foreign exchange students.
  • Liaise with other schools, public and private, in all matters involved registration or withdrawal of students.
  • Liaise with all District departments and offices, including Transportation, to ensure the full enrollment of newly-registered students, or withdrawal of departing students.
  • Liaise with families, staff members across all departments, home instructors, and vendors to schedule, monitor, and serve as support in any necessary and approved home instruction for students.
  • Coordinate all aspects of District compliance to McKinney-Vento requirements for homeless students, in cooperation with and under the direction of appropriate administrative staff members.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the District's Choice program, in cooperation with and under the direction of appropriate administrative staff members.
  • Liaise with Information Technology and other offices as necessary, in collaboration with and under the direction of appropriate administrative staff members, to complete the Civil Rights Data Collection and other local, state, and federal reports relevant to the Counseling Department, as assigned.

Rate:

$53,915 - $64,685 (to be prorated based on start date)
