Glastonbury Public Schools is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and professional On-Call School Bus Driver to join our Transportation Department! This position provides transportation for school field trips, athletic events, extracurricular activities, and other school-sponsored trips. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced school bus driver who wants to supplement their income without committing to a regular daily school bus route. Job Responsibilities Safely transport students, coaches, and school staff to and from athletic events, field trips, and other school-sponsored activities. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Follow assigned schedules, trip itineraries, and district safety procedures. Maintain a safe, professional, and positive environment for all passengers. Communicate with the Transportation Department regarding assignments, delays, vehicle concerns, and safety issues. Required Qualifications Applicants must possess and maintain: A valid CDL Class B. A valid Connecticut school bus driver's endorsement/license (S). Valid Passenger (P) and Air Brake qualifications, as required for the assigned vehicle. A current and valid DOT medical certificate, as required. A satisfactory driving record. The ability to meet all applicable state and district requirements for school bus drivers. 2026/2027 Posting #2711 Posting: October 16, 2026 - Until Filled Schedule and Availability This is an on-call position offering assignments based on the needs of the Transportation Department. Work hours: Primarily late afternoons and evenings, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend assignments. Advance notice: Most trips will be scheduled in advance whenever possible. Flexibility: Applicants must be willing to accept assignments with limited notice when unexpected coverage needs arise.
