School Bus Driver

POSITION: School Bus Driver (Full and Part-time) LOCATION: New Castle County Vo Tech School District Bus Depot QUALIFICATIONS: Have a current valid Commercial Driver's License - CDL-B (or CDL-A) with Passenger & School Bus Endorsement and have driven a school bus within the past year. OR Be eligible & willing to attend paid training to acquire CDL School Bus Endorsement. (Transportation Office will assist in the process of obtaining proper CDL license and endorsements.) DUTIES: Drive any type and size of school bus that may be operated by the school district for the safe transport of students to and from school and school related functions on regularly scheduled routes. Buses Equipped with: Two Way Radios Turn by Turn Directional Tablets 4 camera video recording systems GPS PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Complete safety and operational check of the school bus and any special equipment before and after all trips. Report any malfunctions concerning the bus and/or special equipment. Safely operate assigned school bus on assigned trips in accordance with printed trip schedules and in accordance with specified stop, sequence, and time schedules. Monitor the operational condition and safety of vehicle accessories of assigned buses on a daily basis; monitor gauges and sensors while operating a bus and reports discrepancies to initiate corrective actions. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Show personality and character traits suited to supervision and care of children of multiple ethnicities and cultural values, behavioral, and physical handicaps. Responsibility to be courteous, pleasant and demonstrate respect for all students, school personnel, parents, and the general motoring public. Resolve conflict and maintain discipline of children on board buses. Physical Requirements: Maintain yearly Delaware School Bus Driver Physical Physical and Environmental Conditions Work may be performed at various times of day or night, under various conditions, including, but not limited to inclement weather.
