Job Requirements.
  • EducationRequirements: High school diploma (or equivalent); additional coursework/credentialing in interpreting preferred.
  • CertificationsRequirements: Working toward or holding an interpreter credential (e.g., NAD III or equivalent). If not currently certified, willingness to obtain required certification(s) per district/state requirements.
  • ExperienceRequirements: Minimum 1 year of experience supporting students in a school setting (e.g., paraprofessional/teacher’s aide experience), including one-on-one and small group support.
  • OtherRequirements: Strong communication and collaboration skills; classroom management and professionalism; ability to maintain confidentiality while supporting diverse student needs; comfortable working in a school environment with scheduled days (Days shift). This role requires reliable transportation and adherence to district policies and attendance expectations; background check and district onboarding requirements may apply.

JobResponsibilities:
  • Provide sign language interpreting services for K-12 students in a school environment, supporting communication access during instruction and school activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure effective communication supports for students with hearing-impairment/access needs.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interpreting, supporting student privacy and compliance with district policies.
  • Support classroom participation by interpreting core content and facilitating understanding between students and instructional staff.
  • Participate in district onboarding, required trainings, and ongoing communication to meet interpreting needs across the contract period.
