The Learning Experience- Gaithersburg is hiring a caring, energetic, and dependable School Age Teacher to support our school-age childcare program!
We're looking for someone who can create a fun, structured environment where children can build friendships, develop independence, complete schoolwork, and enjoy meaningful activities outside the regular school day.
Candidates must meet Maryland's School-Age Teacher qualification requirements.
What You'll Do
Lead engaging, age-appropriate activities for elementary school-aged children
Plan arts and crafts, games, STEM activities, and hands-on learning experiences
Support homework time, reading, and independent learning
Encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and positive social interactions
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized classroom
Establish consistent routines and use positive behavior guidance
Supervise indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining required staff-to-child ratios
Build positive relationships with children and communicate with families
Collaborate with fellow teachers and center leadership
Follow Maryland childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements
Qualifications
Must meet Maryland School-Age Teacher qualification requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Previous professional experience working with school-aged children preferred
Experience in before- and after-school programs, childcare centers, summer camps, or elementary education is a plus
Understanding of school-age child development and positive behavior management
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Patient, dependable, energetic, and comfortable leading group activities
Must meet applicable Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements
