The Department of Music, Theatre, & Dance maintains two interlocking and equally important educational components: traditional classroom and practical production. The Scenic Shop Supervisor is essential to both the teaching and production missions of the Department This position will supervise and instruct students in the lab (classroom) setting as well as be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Scene Shop for all departmental productions.
Purpose of the Position
The Scenic Shop Supervisor is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Scene Shop during the specified office hours as determined by the University and the Department of Music, Theatre, & Dance's Theater Program. These hours are currently specified as Monday-Friday 9:00AM-6:00PM. Moreover, the position will supervise and instruct students in a lab setting for theater productions, collaborate with Technical Director and/or designers to ensure productions are built to specifications, set-up and prepare work areas, load-in and strike productions, attend technical rehearsals and performances, and assign duties to student workers and student assistants. Additionally this position will establish and prioritize work schedules to ensure production schedules are met, check and approve work and ensure that the shop is maintained in a safe and clean manner.
