Construction Project Manager

Our client is a Queens-based general contracting firm specializing in public and private construction projects throughout New York City. Our work includes educational facilities, building renovations, interior fit-outs, infrastructure improvements, and capital construction projects. We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with a strong background managing New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Job Description

Manage all phases of construction projects from award through closeout. Serve as the primary point of contact for SCA representatives, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and procurement plans. Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and SCA requirements. Coordinate subcontractor activities and monitor project performance. Prepare and submit RFIs, change orders, submittals, CPM schedules, requisitions, and project reports. Lead project meetings and provide progress updates to company leadership and stakeholders. Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability. Ensure compliance with SCA standards, NYC building codes, permit requirements, and contract specifications. Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records. Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and punch list activities. Work closely with field superintendents to maintain quality, productivity, and safety. Support estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed.

The Successful Applicant

Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience. Minimum 3 years managing NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) projects. Strong understanding of SCA policies, procedures, documentation, and project controls. Experience managing projects valued between $1 million and $20+ million. Knowledge of NYC building codes, public works contracts, and construction regulations. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and construction management software. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the NYC metropolitan area.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. OSHA 30 Certification. SST Supervisor Card. Experience with DOB filings, public agency work, and NYC educational facilities. Familiarity with Sage, Primavera P6, or similar project management software.
