Saw Operator (Days)

Nesco Resource is seeking strong candidates for a Saw Operator role with our long-time Assembly/Parts Manufacturing Client in Livonia, MI. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace safety. This is a Contract-to Hire Role.

Shift: 7:00 am to 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday with possible OT

Pay: 22-23/hr., per level of experience

Position Summary

The Saw Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining saw machine equipment to accurately cut raw materials according to work orders, specifications, and quality standards.

The position requires attention to detail, safe equipment operation, teamwork, and consistent adherence to work instructions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment.

• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.

• Measure, mark, and cut metal, plastic, wood, and other raw materials to specified dimensions.

• Inspect materials before and after cutting to confirm accuracy and review quality

• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including blade changes, sharpening, adjustments, and preventive maintenance

• Document production quantities, material usage, and job information accurately

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards

• Assist other production team members as needed

• Meet company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement

• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of machine safety

• Basic mathematical and measurement skills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions

• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive tasks

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing or production environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a saw operator, machine operator, or construction background

• Experience working with metal, plastic, wood, or similar raw materials

• Familiarity with ISO standards, quality systems, and inspection processes

• Experience performing basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
