Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking reliable and detail-oriented Saw Operators to join a manufacturing and fabrication operation in Claremore. This position is responsible for accurately measuring, cutting, and preparing metal materials according to blueprints, work orders, cut lists, and production specifications.

The ideal candidate has previous metal-cutting or fabrication experience, can accurately read a tape measure and calipers, and understands the importance of maintaining precise dimensions and consistent quality throughout the cutting process.

This position offers a consistent four-day Monday–Thursday workweek on second shift.

Required Experience & Skills

• Previous metal saw operation, manufacturing, or fabrication experience preferred
• Ability to operate or learn band saws, cold saws, and related cutting equipment
• Ability to accurately read tape measures and calipers
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
• Ability to follow material cut lists and work orders
• Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals
• Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
• Ability to inspect completed cuts for quality
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Ability to work overtime when required
• Strong commitment to workplace safety

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate band saws, cold saws, and other metal-cutting equipment
• Cut metal materials to specified dimensions
• Review work orders and material cut lists before beginning production
• Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
• Measure and mark materials before cutting
• Use tape measures, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment
• Load and position materials onto saw equipment
• Verify saw settings and material positioning before cutting
• Monitor cutting operations for accuracy and equipment performance
• Inspect completed cuts for dimensional accuracy and quality
• Identify and report incorrect or damaged materials
• Remove completed materials and stage them for the next production process
• Remove scrap materials from cutting areas
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces
• Perform additional shop and production duties as assigned

Saw & Cutting Equipment

Candidates may work with:

• Band saws
• Cold saws
• Other industrial metal-cutting equipment
• Tape measures
• Calipers
• Basic hand tools
• Material-handling equipment

Previous metal-cutting experience is preferred, particularly in a fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment.

Blueprint & Measurement Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and shop drawings
• Review material cut lists
• Identify required dimensions and tolerances
• Measure and mark materials before cutting
• Accurately work with fractions and decimal measurements
• Use tape measures and calipers
• Verify finished cuts against required dimensions
• Identify dimensional discrepancies before materials move to the next production stage

Quality Responsibilities

• Inspect raw materials before cutting
• Verify completed cuts for accuracy
• Maintain consistent dimensional quality throughout production runs
• Identify incorrect cuts or material defects
• Report quality concerns to supervisors
• Help prevent incorrectly sized materials from moving into fabrication or assembly
• Maintain strong attention to detail throughout repetitive cutting operations

Material Handling Responsibilities

Depending on training and authorization, Saw Operators may use or assist with:

• Forklifts
• Overhead cranes
• Hoists
• Other industrial material-handling equipment

These systems may be used to load, unload, position, and move metal materials throughout the saw and production areas.

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

• Perform routine saw inspections and safety checks
• Monitor equipment for unusual operating conditions
• Report maintenance concerns promptly
• Remove scrap and debris from saw areas
• Keep cutting equipment and surrounding workspaces organized
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements
• Wear all required PPE

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Saw Operator experience
• Band saw experience
• Cold saw experience
• Metal fabrication experience
• Manufacturing experience
• Strong blueprint-reading skills
• Precision measurement experience
• Forklift experience
• Overhead crane experience
• Experience handling structural or fabricated metal materials

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to safely handle and position metal materials
• Manual dexterity required for machine controls and measuring equipment
• Comfortable working around saws, metal materials, forklifts, cranes, and industrial machinery
• Ability to safely perform assigned duties while wearing required PPE

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing and fabrication shop
• Regular work around metal-cutting equipment, raw materials, forklifts, cranes, and production machinery
• Exposure to shop noise, dust, and temperature variations
• Hands-on position requiring frequent material handling and precision measurement
• Consistent Monday–Thursday | 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM schedule
• Overtime may be required according to production needs
• Strong emphasis on safety, dimensional accuracy, quality, and productivity
