Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Saw Operator for a manufacturing opportunity in Claremore. This position is responsible for setting up and operating industrial saws to cut metal and related materials to specified dimensions while maintaining established quality, productivity, and safety standards.
The ideal candidate has previous experience with industrial saws or similar cutting equipment, can accurately read measurements and work orders, and is comfortable handling materials in a fast-paced manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous industrial saw or cutting-equipment experience preferred
Experience in manufacturing or fabrication preferred
Ability to accurately read measurements
Ability to use basic measuring tools
Ability to read and follow work orders
Ability to interpret basic blueprints or cutting specifications
Strong attention to dimensional accuracy
Strong safety awareness
Ability to inspect materials for quality and defects
Ability to safely handle metal and related materials
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up industrial saws for assigned production jobs
Operate band saws, circular saws, or similar cutting equipment
Review work orders before cutting materials
Read applicable blueprints and production specifications
Measure materials before cutting
Set equipment according to required dimensions
Position materials safely for cutting
Monitor saw operation throughout the cutting process
Verify completed cuts for dimensional accuracy
Inspect materials before and after cutting
Identify damaged or defective materials
Perform basic saw maintenance
Change saw blades when required
Clean equipment and surrounding work areas
Stage completed materials for production
Assist with moving and tracking materials
Work with Production and Warehouse personnel
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Perform additional saw operation and production duties as assigned
Saw Operation Responsibilities
Candidates may regularly work with:
Band saws
Circular saws
Industrial cutting equipment
Saw blades
Material stops and guides
Metal stock
Related fabrication equipment
Operators must maintain control of materials and equipment throughout the cutting process to ensure safe and accurate production.
Measurement & Cutting Accuracy
Candidates should be able to:
Read a tape measure accurately
Follow specified dimensions
Measure materials before cutting
Verify cut lengths after processing
Identify incorrect measurements
Maintain consistent dimensional accuracy
Follow work-order and blueprint requirements
Prevent incorrectly cut materials from continuing through production
Blueprint & Work Order Responsibilities
Review assigned work orders
Identify required materials and quantities
Read applicable measurements
Follow basic blueprints or cutting specifications
Verify material requirements before cutting
Communicate unclear or conflicting information before proceeding
Material Inspection
Inspect raw materials before cutting
Identify visible defects or damage
Verify correct material is being processed
Inspect completed cuts
Confirm dimensions meet requirements
Identify quality concerns
Communicate defective or incorrect materials to appropriate personnel
Saw Maintenance
Candidates may perform basic equipment maintenance, including:
Saw blade changes
Equipment cleaning
Removing chips and debris
Inspecting saw components
Identifying worn or damaged blades
Reporting mechanical concerns
Keeping equipment ready for production
Material Handling
Stage raw materials for cutting
Position materials on saw equipment
Move completed materials to designated areas
Work with Production and Warehouse personnel to maintain material flow
Keep materials organized and properly identified
Handle metal products safely throughout the process
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Saw Operator experience
Band saw experience
Circular saw experience
Metal-cutting experience
Manufacturing experience
Fabrication shop experience
Blueprint-reading experience
Strong tape-measure skills
Material-handling experience
Previous experience cutting metal to precise dimensions
Training
Training for this position will be conducted on day shift.
Candidates should be prepared to complete applicable equipment, production, and safety training before independently operating assigned machinery.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift and handle moderate-weight materials
Manual dexterity required for machine setup and measurement
Ability to safely position materials on cutting equipment
Comfortable performing repetitive manufacturing work
Ability to safely work around industrial saws and moving equipment
Ability to wear all required PPE
