    Description

    Position Summary: Student workers will staff the help/information desk in the Mosaic Life-care Commons on the Savannah Campus. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Student workers will act as referral agents by connecting patrons to requested services. This position will also assist departments with general office duties.

    CLASSIFICATION: Work Study

    DEPARTMENT: Savannah Resource Center

    REPORTS TO: Shellee Castanada, Resource Center Coordinator

    LENGTH: Fall and Spring

    LOCATION: Savannah Campus, Savannah, MO

    Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to

    • Staff the information desk and be prepared to answer general questions concerning NCMC and directional questions about the building
    • Be at work on time as scheduled
    • Update Calendar of Events
    • Maintain contact with Savannah Campus Admissions, Dean, and Tutoring Center Coordinator
    • Exhibit excellent customer service skills toward all patrons, students, and NCMC faculty/staff
    • Perform other record-keeping and resource maintenance duties
    • All other duties as assigned

    Requirements

    Requirements: Must be Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible

    Qualifications: NCMC Student with knowledge of the Savannah Campus

    Skills: Strong verbal and written communication. Ability to explain concepts clearly. Active listening and approachable demeanor. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of patrons, students, and NCMC faculty/staff.

    Physical Demands: Moving about between buildings on the NCMC campus, ascending and descending stairs, reaching, pulling, and pushing when filing, able to do repetitive tasks, remain stationary at a desk for extended periods of time.

    Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while walking on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air-conditioned environment.
