Title: SATCOM Test Engineer

An industry-leading communications and technology organization is seeking a Senior SATCOM Test Engineer to support the development and validation of advanced satellite communications products. This individual will work closely with Systems, Software, and Hardware Engineering teams to perform verification and validation testing throughout the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in satellite communications, RF testing, automation, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop verification and validation test procedures from system, hardware, and software requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Java.
- Support integration testing, design verification, first article testing, and production testing activities.
- Troubleshoot complex satellite communication hardware, software, and system-level issues.
- Execute testing for advanced SATCOM features and technologies, including:
- DIFI (IEEE-ISTO STD 4900-2021)
- RF and waveform validation to MIL-STD-188-165B requirements
- Multi-carrier satellite modem technologies
- Automated RF calibration processes
- Track, document, and analyze product performance, defects, and test results.
- Prepare technical reports, charts, graphs, and documentation detailing system performance and validation outcomes.
- Design, assemble, and maintain test fixtures and laboratory environments.
Required Qualifications- Experience programming in Python, C/C++, and/or Java.
- Experience using laboratory and networking test equipment including:
- Spectrum Analyzers
- Oscilloscopes
- Protocol Analyzers
- Traffic Generators
- Satellite Link Emulators
- AWGN Noise Sources
- Managed Ethernet Switches
- Routers
- Wireshark
- Experience testing against MIL-STD-188-165A/B standards.
- Strong understanding of modern satellite modem waveforms and SATCOM technologies.
- Experience automating test equipment using GPIB, Ethernet, SNMP, or similar communication interfaces.
- Experience with DIFI (IEEE-ISTO STD 4900-2021).
- Experience automating RF calibration routines.
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Test Engineering, Verification, Validation, or SATCOM testing environment.
