SAP Project Manager

This is a contract Project Manager role for a 6-month engagement supporting Wave 2 of an enterprise SAP S/4HANA program. The position is remote but requires location within 2-3 hours of Middletown, Pennsylvania. You will report to the client organization, not a System Integrator, and will own the integrated plan, budget, governance, and SI coordination for this complex, multi-workstream initiative.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage the detailed, integrated project plan and schedule in MS Project, including task-level detail, deliverables, milestones, cross-functional dependencies, and critical path.
• Estimate and maintain cost plans through all phases of the project.
• Plan, schedule, and forecast resource capacity across concurrent workstreams so corrective action can be taken ahead of time.
• Establish a project governance framework with defined roles, responsibilities, escalation paths, and decision-making processes.
• Coordinate all project activities with System Integrator project managers, including interrelated projects across the enterprise landscape.
• Work with business owners and analysts to define and refine project scope.
• Manage the full project lifecycle (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing), including all project artifacts and signoffs.
• Manage internal and external staff across multiple IT projects of varying complexity.
• Build productive relationships with technology staff, business owners, sponsors, vendors, and executive leadership.
• Lead lessons-learned sessions during and after the project.
• Adhere to the client''s PMO Playbook and related standards, templates, and methodologies.

Qualifications

• Required

• Active PMP certification.

• S/4HANA program experience as the Project Manager (not as a functional or technical lead who also managed the project).

• 10+ years of project management covering integration, scope, schedule, communication, vendor, and risk management.

• Expert-level MS Project or MS Project Online proficiency: building and maintaining integrated, resource-loaded schedules with a managed critical path.

• Experience delivering multi-year programs.

• Experience managing high-profile vendors and System Integrators across on-premises and cloud landscapes.

• Strong leadership, conflict management, and negotiation skills, plus excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Preferred

• Client-side or owner''s-representative PM experience governing a System Integrator, rather than working for one.

• S/4HANA post-go-live, upgrade, or multi-wave program experience.

• Public sector, transportation, toll authority, utility, or government-adjacent experience with formal PMO playbooks and signoff processes.

• Integration-heavy landscape experience, especially with SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, OnBase, or Business Technology Platform (BTP).

• Ownership of project budgets and cost plans, not just tracking them.

• Resource capacity forecasting across concurrent workstreams.

• Experience standing up governance frameworks (RACI, escalation paths, decision logs, steering committees) from scratch.
