    Description

    Job Title: SAP Platform Lead
Location: Indianapolis, IN or Houston, TX
    Industry: Chemical Manufacturing

    Job Description:
Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for an SAP Platform Lead to add to their growing team. Our client is hiring a hands-on SAP expert who works across modules, to support, administer, and help implement S/4HANA. The organization is rolling out its S/4HANA program to remaining US sites (building on a site live since 2020), with the 2027 rollout kicking off. During implementation, 90%+ of the role’s time is dedicated to the project, providing ground-floor exposure to the full SAP configuration and landscape while remaining a go-to for critical support issues. This is a broad, cross-functional role requiring credibility across modules rather than narrow specialization.

The SAP footprint spans FICO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, and Project Systems (PS). EHS needs (e.g., hazardous materials/DOT compliance for chemical shipments) are handled through custom-built functionality rather than a dedicated SAP EHS module. The role partners with the Application Manager, IT leadership, System Implementor (SI), business process owners, and the internal app dev team (currently two developers, one application support specialist, and the Application Manager) to drive strategy, day-to-day support, administration, implementation, enterprise architecture, platform ownership, governance, master data enablement, documentation, training, and process excellence. The person will also mentor the team toward full internal self-sufficiency for core support functions.

    Responsibilities:
Key focus areas include identifying process improvements or new capabilities, triaging and resolving incidents with root-cause ownership, managing authorizations/roles/transports/environment health/master data standards, hands-on configuration and custom ABAP development (BAPIs, enhancements, reports) in ABAP Development Tools/SAP Query/HANA SQL, understanding integrations (Esker, Salesforce, SQL Server, Azure DevOps), stewarding the build-to-template approach, coordinating with the AMS partner post-go-live, training SMEs on master data, and using data/reporting to analyze usage and close process gaps. Mentoring occurs alongside the work through pairing, documenting tribal knowledge, and building team capability.

    Requirements:

    • 7+ years of progressive SAP experience, ideally including at least one S/4HANA implementation and a post-go-live support environment.
    • Experience spanning at least two functional modules, ideally including two or more of FICO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, or Project Systems (PS), with a track record of breadth across modules rather than deep specialization in one.
    • Ability to work across the technical and functional divide: comfortable in configuration, ABAP, SAP Query/InfoSets, and HANA SQL, with working knowledge of IDocs, CDS views, BAPIs/BADIs (user exits and enhancement spots), and RFC-based integrations.
    • Exceptional problem-solver who is driven and eager to dig into unfamiliar processes and figure things out.
    • Strong aptitude for understanding end-to-end business processes across the full breadth of the organization’s ERP footprint, not just the technical mechanics.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead through influence: comfortable presenting trade-offs and strategic recommendations to non-technical stakeholders, and guiding teams, stakeholders, and external partners toward good decisions without formal authority (not a people-management role today).
    • Experience or genuine interest in mentoring and upskilling less-experienced team members.
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage modern productivity and AI-enabled tools to accelerate research, documentation, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
    • Adept at using AI to capture notes and build/maintain documentation of the SAP system as it’s configured and extended, rather than letting institutional knowledge stay verbal or scattered.

    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience integrating SAP with adjacent systems (ERP, CRM, or middleware), given the organization’s broader landscape (Esker for sales order entry and AP automation, Salesforce, SQL Server, Azure DevOps).
    • Comfort with custom development alongside standard configuration.

    About Company

We recognize the VMS program management team is our customer and needs to be serviced with integrity, so we built and continue to improve upon our delivery methods as we strive to provide the highest quality service possible. inSync Staffing’s management team recognized ten years ago the inevitable changes to the staffing industry being brought about by technology and the growing trend of Fortune 1000 corporations to outsource management of their contingent workforces to meet compliance and cost control goals. Rather than swim upstream against the changes, inSync Staffing has embraced MSP and VMS programs as our customers, not competitors. We asked program managers how they want to be serviced. The result of their input is that we have structured inSync Staffing as a recruiting and customer service organization, unlike traditional staffing companies who sell directly to the end client. Our delivery model allows us concentrates our resources on how to best supply candidates in a very competitive MSP/VMS program environment.
