TITLE:
SAP IBP Consultant / Business Solutions Architect (Onsite - Dallas, TX)
We're seeking an experienced SAP IBP Consultant / Business Solutions Architect to join a large-scale supply chain technology transformation focused on modernizing planning capabilities and supporting high-volume distribution operations.
This role is specifically designed for an SAP IBP-focused professional who understands how to translate complex supply chain planning requirements into scalable IBP solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on knowledge of SAP IBP Demand, Supply & Response, and Inventory Optimization, along with experience in Advanced ATP, backorder processing, and Global ATP environments. You'll serve as a senior technical and functional resource, helping determine where SAP IBP standard capabilities can meet business needs, where configuration or enhancements are appropriate, and where alternative solutions may be required. This opportunity is best suited for someone who can go beyond simply configuring IBP.You'll be expected to understand how IBP behaves in a real-world, high-volume supply chain environment, identify where the platform fits, recognize its limitations, and design practical solutions around those limitations.The ideal candidate can move comfortably between SAP IBP configuration, supply chain processes, architecture, integration, and business conversations and can explain complex planning concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a strong track record specifically within SAP IBP. This is not intended to be a general SAP architecture position.
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP IBP implementation, consulting, or solution architecture experience.
- Strong expertise across one or more of the following SAP IBP areas:
- Demand Planning
- Supply Planning / Response & Supply
- Inventory Optimization
- Advanced ATP experience is required.
- Backorder processing experience is required.
- Global ATP experience is required.
- Experience designing and supporting high-volume, exception-driven planning environments.
- Experience translating business requirements into SAP IBP solution designs.
- Experience determining when standard IBP functionality is sufficient versus when alternative approaches are needed.
- Experience with SAP integration technologies such as CPI-DS, SDI, or RTI.
- Experience integrating SAP IBP with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA.
- Understanding of full software delivery lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and solution-design capabilities.
Preferred Background-Experience in any of the following would be valuable:- Parts, aftermarket, distribution, manufacturing, or supply-chain-intensive environments.
- Large-scale ERP or supply chain transformation programs.
- Multi-ERP environments or ERP consolidation initiatives.

Responsibilities:SAP IBP Solution Architecture- Lead the design and evolution of SAP IBP solutions supporting complex supply chain and distribution planning requirements.
- Configure and optimize SAP IBP Demand, Supply & Response, and Inventory Optimization capabilities.
- Develop scalable solutions capable of handling high volumes of planning data, purchase orders, order lines, and exceptions.
- Work with integration technologies such as CPI-DS, SDI, and RTI.
- Ensure IBP solutions align with broader SAP architecture and enterprise technology strategy.
Business Requirements & Solution Design- Lead working sessions with supply chain, operations, and technology stakeholders to understand business requirements and planning challenges.
- Evaluate requirements against standard SAP IBP functionality.
- Identify functional or technical gaps and recommend appropriate approaches, including configuration, enhancements, workarounds, or alternative solutions.
- Challenge requirements when necessary and help stakeholders understand the capabilities and limitations of IBP.
Advanced Planning & Exception Management- Design planning processes for environments where high transaction volumes and frequent exceptions are part of daily operations.
- Support strategies for managing shortages, excess inventory, supply constraints, backorders, and other planning exceptions.
- Optimize IBP processes for responsiveness, throughput, scalability, and usability.
- Apply practical experience with Advanced ATP and Global ATP to support end-to-end planning and fulfillment processes.
Planning Model & Data Architecture- Define and optimize IBP planning areas, key figures, master data, attributes, and related planning structures.
- Partner with data and integration teams on data cleansing, transformation, harmonization, and readiness.
- Ensure planning models align with ERP structures and downstream reporting/analytics requirements.
- Help establish scalable data foundations for future IBP capabilities.
Integration & End-to-End Planning- Support data and process integration between SAP IBP, SAP ECC/S4, and external enterprise platforms.
- Work with integration teams to ensure reliable movement of planning and execution data.
- Understand the relationship between demand, supply, inventory, fulfillment, and execution processes.
- Troubleshoot integration and planning-flow issues across systems.
Transformation & Implementation- Support a phased supply chain technology transformation from solution design through deployment and stabilization.
- Participate in blueprinting and determine which capabilities should be delivered during initial implementation versus subsequent phases.
- Contribute to roadmap development and prioritization of future IBP enhancements.
- Support the full lifecycle from design → build → test → deployment → hypercare.
- Participate in UAT, validation, performance testing, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Leadership- Act as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor for SAP IBP.
- Translate technical concepts into practical recommendations for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with supply chain, operations, IT, architecture, data, and external implementation teams.
- Work effectively across geographically distributed teams and multiple organizational functions.
- Provide clear communication around risks, tradeoffs, dependencies, and solution decisions.
