    Duration: 6 Months

    Location: Washington DC, 50% Travel

    Description:

!!!!! Applicant must be willing to provide SSN as part of the clients onboarding and background check process. !!!!!

We are seeking a Senior SAP Funds Management Consultant to lead process standardization and optimization activities within the Funds Management (FM) workstream of a complex S/4HANA business transformation program. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Public Sector Management (PSM-FM) within S/4HANA, a thorough understanding of budgetary control lifecycle processes, and direct experience in banking or financial institutions — particularly those operating under public sector mandates or international financial governance frameworks. This individual will assess the current state of FM configuration and customizations, identify opportunities to leverage standard S/4HANA functionality, and guide the client toward a leaner, more maintainable solution.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assess the current Funds Management configuration, master data model, and supporting custom developments inherited from the ECC 6.0 brownfield conversion, identifying redundant, non-standard, or decommissionable components
    • Lead business transformation workshops with budget, treasury, and finance stakeholders to document current-state FM processes (budget preparation, budget execution, availability control, funds reservation, and year-end closing) and define the target-state aligned to S/4HANA standard
    • Evaluate the client's use of Budget Control System (BCS) vs. former budgeting approaches and provide recommendations for optimization under S/4HANA PSM-FM capabilities
    • Collaborate with ABAP developers to systematically review and challenge custom-coded FM enhancements — determining whether standard S/4HANA FM functionality can replace bespoke logic
    • Design and document optimized To-Be processes for commitment management, fund availability checking, and budgetary reporting aligned to organizational and audit requirements
    • Identify applicable SAP intelligent automation and AI-assisted capabilities to improve budget monitoring, variance detection, and forecasting accuracy
    • Ensure FM design is fully integrated with FI/CO, Grants Management, and MM/AP workstreams to maintain end-to-end budgetary integrity
    • Produce fit-gap analyses, functional specifications, test scenarios, and training materials as required
    • Operate effectively within aggressive delivery schedules, managing competing priorities without sacrificing quality
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum 8–10 years of SAP FM/PSM consulting experience, with demonstrated S/4HANA on-premise implementation or transformation experience
    • Deep knowledge of SAP Public Sector Management — Funds Management (PSM-FM), including Budget Control System (BCS), availability control, commitment ledger, and year-end processes
    • Proven experience in brownfield conversion engagements with post-migration optimization and custom code rationalization
    • Direct experience in the banking, development finance, or financial services sector — with familiarity with public sector budget governance and compliance
    • Strong ability to lead stakeholder workshops, manage diverse groups, and build consensus around process redesign recommendations
    • Experience collaborating with technical developers to assess custom Z-developments and map them to standard SAP functionality
    • Familiarity with AI and automation tools applicable to budgetary management and financial planning
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex FM concepts to non-technical executives
    • Proven track record delivering in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with SAP Budget Formulation and Execution (BFE) or SAP Entitlement Management
    • Exposure to integration between Funds Management and Grants Management in development banking contexts
    • SAP PSM or S/4HANA certification preferred
