CPA firm seeking an Experienced State and Local Tax (SALT) Tax Preparer will support the Firm’s State and Local Tax practice by preparing accurate and timely state and local tax returns and related compliance filings for clients across a variety of industries.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of tax preparation experience, including exposure to state and local tax compliance, and a desire to further develop their knowledge and experience in multistate taxation.
The individual will work closely with senior associates, managers, directors, and partners to support client engagements involving state income and franchise taxes, extensions and estimated payments, apportionment, state modifications, nexus considerations, tax notices, and other state and local tax matters.
Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and other business entities.
Prepare multistate tax returns and related supporting schedules and workpapers.
Prepare state and local tax extensions, estimated tax payments, and other required compliance filings.
Calculate state modifications, apportionment factors, taxable income, and other state-specific adjustments.
Perform basic state and local tax research related to filing requirements, tax rates, apportionment, sourcing, nexus, and other compliance matters.
Communicate with clients and internal engagement teams to obtain information and resolve questions necessary to complete tax filings.
Coordinate with federal tax teams to ensure consistency between federal and state tax filings.
Perform other tax compliance and SALT-related responsibilities as assigned.
