The Salon Associate position at TEEZ Hair Studio is a hands-on training and development role designed for newly licensed or soon-to-be licensed cosmetologists who are ready to transition from cosmetology school into a successful career behind the chair.
Associates work alongside experienced TEEZ stylists while completing our structured Associate Program, which combines hands-on experience, technical education, guest service, salon operations, and business-building skills.
This is not simply an assistant position. The goal of the Associate Program is to prepare each associate to successfully transition onto the TEEZ floor as a Level 1 Stylist and begin building a long-term career with our salon.
Throughout the Associate Program, associates will receive training and experience in:
Guest consultations and service planning
Shampooing, conditioning and treatment services
Blowouts, styling and finishing
Haircutting techniques
Color formulation and application
Blonding and dimensional color techniques
Toners, glosses and corrective formulation
Keratin and treatment services
Product knowledge and professional retail recommendations
Rebooking and guest retention
Time management and service efficiency
Client communication and guest experience
Building a clientele
Understanding salon KPIs and the business behind becoming a successful stylist
While progressing through the program, associates are expected to:
Assist assigned stylists with preparing for and completing guest services.
Shampoo, condition, apply treatments, blow-dry and perform other services appropriate to their demonstrated skill level and licensing status.
Prepare color, maintain color areas and assist with color services as directed.
Maintain clean, sanitized and organized stations, shampoo areas, color areas and shared salon spaces.
Help keep stylists running efficiently and on schedule.
Greet and interact with guests in a warm, professional manner.
Learn TEEZ consultation, service and guest-experience standards.
Participate in scheduled associate education, models, practice sessions and evaluations.
Complete assigned technical benchmarks and program requirements.
Learn and consistently use TEEZ's service, retail, rebooking and client-retention systems.
Recommend professional home-care products based on each guest's needs.
Assist with salon operations and team responsibilities when needed.
Follow all TEEZ Hair Studio policies, dress code, sanitation standards and professional expectations.
Demonstrate initiative by looking for ways to assist the team rather than waiting to be directed.
Accept coaching and actively apply feedback to improve technical and professional performance.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited cosmetology program and be eligible for Texas cosmetology licensure.
Associates must complete all required state licensing examinations and obtain their Texas cosmetology license within the timeframe established by TEEZ Hair Studio in order to continue progressing through the Associate Program and perform services requiring licensure.
Employment in the Associate Program does not guarantee advancement to a stylist position. Advancement is based on successful completion of program requirements and demonstrated readiness.

Progress through the TEEZ Associate Program is based on competency and readiness—not simply time employed.
Associates will receive ongoing coaching and evaluations covering areas such as:
Technical Skills
Haircutting, styling, color application, formulation, blonding, finishing and other core services.
Guest Experience
Consultations, communication, professionalism, product recommendations, rebooking and overall guest care.
Efficiency
Service timing, organization, preparation and the ability to manage a salon workflow.
Business Skills
Retail, rebooking, retention, client building and understanding the performance expectations of a TEEZ stylist.
Professionalism
Attendance, punctuality, appearance, teamwork, initiative, communication and response to coaching.
Associates must successfully complete required benchmarks and demonstrate consistent performance before graduating from the program.
Successful completion of the Associate Program provides the opportunity to advance to a Level 1 Stylist at TEEZ Hair Studio.
Before transitioning to the floor, an associate must demonstrate that they can independently provide services that meet TEEZ standards for technical execution, timing, consultation, guest experience and professionalism.
Once promoted to Level 1 Stylist, the focus shifts from training to building a clientele, increasing productivity, strengthening retention and progressing through the TEEZ stylist level system.
