Sales & Use Tax Associate/Specialist. This organization is looking for someone professional who can work on a team just as effectively as they can work independently. A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in general accounting with sales and use tax experience, primarily for a consumer goods-based organization, is required.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $36/hr - $38/hr
Position Overview: The Sales & Use Tax Associate/Specialist will support the Tax department in ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations. This role focuses on preparing and filing tax returns, assisting with audits, and resolving tax-related issues. The position collaborates closely with internal Finance and Accounting teams to maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting. The ideal candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities of the Sales & Use Tax Associate/Specialist:- Compliance: Prepare monthly and quarterly state sales and use tax returns, including filings, payments, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Audit: Assist tax staff in pre-audit preparation for sales and use tax audits, including store and fixed asset listings and trial balances.
- Audit Support: Pull relevant sales and expense details for requested test samples and provide invoices chosen for review.
- Ariba: Assist tax staff in clearing day-to-day Ariba tax exceptions to ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Other: Support additional projects as needed to maintain compliance and improve tax processes.
Required Experience/Skills for the Sales & Use Tax Associate/Specialist:- Sales and Use Tax Accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of state and local tax compliance processes.
- Ability to prepare and reconcile tax filings accurately and on time.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across departments.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Sales & Use Tax Associate/Specialist:- Experience with SAP for tax data management and reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.
- Familiarity with Ariba or similar procurement systems.
- Prior experience supporting tax audits and reconciliations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
