Provide technical guidance and consulting support on Sales & Use Tax matters.
Research complex state and local tax issues and prepare technical memorandums and reports.
Analyze multi-state sales tax requirements and compliance obligations.
Review exemption certificates and ensure proper documentation.
Support mergers and acquisitions through tax due diligence and transaction structuring.
Identify indirect tax risks and opportunities during acquisition reviews.
Assist clients with post-transaction tax compliance requirements.
Review Sales & Use Tax returns for accuracy and compliance.
Assist with voluntary disclosure agreements and tax registrations.
Respond to state tax notices and inquiries.
Represent clients in communications with state and local tax authorities.
Utilize tax technology platforms such as:
Avalara
Vertex
TaxJar
Similar indirect tax software solutions
Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and compliance workflows.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
6+ years of State & Local Tax (SALT) experience.
Strong expertise in:
Sales & Use Tax
Indirect tax compliance
Multi-state tax regulations
Tax research and analysis
Required professional designation:
CPA, JD/LLM, CMI, or equivalent certification.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage client relationships and complex tax engagements.
Public accounting or tax consulting experience.
Experience supporting M&A tax due diligence.
Experience working with sales tax automation platforms.
Strong client advisory and project management skills.
SALT professional with deep Sales & Use Tax expertise.
Experienced advisor comfortable working directly with clients.
Strong technical researcher with the ability to interpret changing tax regulations.
Able to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Salary Range: $130,000 – $200,000 annually
