Join the opening management team of a newly repositioned hotel just steps from the iconic Moonlight Beach in the heart of Encinitas, California. Job Purpose

The Sales Manager is responsible for generating new business, developing strategic partnerships, growing market share, and driving hotel revenue through proactive sales efforts. This highly visible role will focus on cultivating relationships throughout the local community while identifying opportunities across corporate, leisure, group, sports, and social segments.  As a member of the opening management team, this individual will help shape the hotel's market positioning, build awareness throughout the community, and create a strong foundation for long-term commercial success.

 

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute sales strategies designed to achieve revenue, occupancy, ADR, and market share objectives.
• Prospect and secure new business opportunities within corporate, group, SMERF, sports, military, government and leisure travel segments.
• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, event venues, government military, community organizations, and tourism stakeholders.
• Conduct outside sales calls, client meetings, property tours, presentations, and networking events.
• Represent the hotel within the Encinitas and North County business community.
• Identify opportunities to partner with local surf, wellness, fitness, and lifestyle brands that align with the hotel's identity.
• Prepare proposals, contracts, and sales presentations while maintaining accurate client and opportunity information.
• Collaborate with revenue management and operations teams to maximize revenue opportunities and guest satisfaction.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging demand patterns to identify revenue opportunities.
• Participate in community events, chamber activities, trade shows, and industry functions.
• Respond promptly to inquiries and ensure exceptional customer service throughout the sales process.
• Support hotel leadership in achieving overall business objectives and profitability goals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of hotel sales experience preferred.
• Experience in hospitality, tourism, destination marketing, or related sales roles.
• Proven track record of developing new business and achieving revenue goals.
• Strong presentation, communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with CRM systems, sales reporting, and hotel sales processes.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with hotel leadership.
• Knowledge of the San Diego, North County, or Southern California hospitality market preferred.

 

Technology & Systems

Experience with the following is preferred:

• Hotel CRM and sales management systems
• Property Management Systems (PMS)
• Revenue management platforms
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Delphi, SalesPro, or comparable hospitality sales systems

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Travel throughout the local market for sales calls, networking events, and client meetings.
• Attend occasional evening and weekend networking and community events.
• Sit, stand, walk, bend, and work on a computer for extended periods.
• Lift and carry marketing materials and event supplies as needed.
