JOB SUMMARY:

The Sales Engineer (SE) is a quota-carrying sales professional responsible for driving and closing sales orders across assigned markets. The SE identifies opportunities, understands and satisfies customer needs, wins new business, and grows existing accounts - while supporting Douglas Sales Managers, agent partner representatives, and cultivating lasting customer relationships. Success in this role is measured by orders booked and revenue delivered. It calls for strong technical aptitude, a solid grasp of our products and markets, an enthusiastic and professional demeanor, and a genuine can-do attitude. The SE will also perform other reasonable tasks as required from time to time and requested by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit, and continuous innovation and improvement).
  • Own a territory sales plan in partnership with SM(s) - building and managing a healthy pipeline across projects, requests for proposals (RFPs), customer support, the quotation process, and sales and after-sale follow-up to hit assigned sales targets.
  • Prospect actively and maintain continuous contact with customers to generate new sales leads, uncover opportunities, and ensure ongoing satisfaction.
  • Transmit all inquiries to the appropriate, aligned Application Engineering (AE) department in a timely manner, with information that is accurate and complete.
  • In cooperation with the SM, ensure accurate and complete RFPs are submitted on all projects originated in the assigned market or geography.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals that win business, with or without SM(s).
  • Travel to customer locations as required to close orders and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Stay informed of all manufacturing activities and machine status in relation to scheduled customer visits and inspections.
  • Maintain a high standard of communication with all departments, representatives, and customers.
  • Coordinate with SM(s) and the Business Unit in the development and revision of concepts and proposals.
  • Actively pursue knowledge of industry trends and the competitive landscape within an industry vertical, and advocate internally to ensure Douglas is meeting customer needs.
  • Work cooperatively with SM(s) and other departments to achieve INSITE and Aftermarket sales goals.
  • Travel up to 30% of time.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
