Position Summary: This role is responsible for managing all aspects of an ALIGN Business Unit’s new and repeat business pipeline, from opportunity identification to PO placement and associated customer inquiries. This person shall possess an understanding of customer technical requirements associated with programs and procurement cycles. This includes understanding key decision makers within each customer and building partnerships that enable business growth. Daily interaction with Engineering, Estimating, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and other relevant functions is required to ensure communications and quoting flow are timely and in alignment with meet customer needs. This individual also leads customer-relevant data compilation and analysis to support annual sales budgets and customer strategies in support of their primary ALIGN Business Unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a primary contact for key existing customers as well as new accounts at an ALIGN Business Unit
- Performs sales activities and maintains direct contact with customers through activities like site visits, sales calls, and industry events to grow existing accounts and develop new business
- Partners with Program/Account Management as a primary interface and an escalation point for customer concerns and program-related issues
- Maintains and builds strong, long-term customer partnerships to enable Business Unit growth strategies while maintaining high customer satisfaction
- Supports, trains, and leads teammates who have customer-facing roles, such as Program/Account Management, Estimating, Contracts, etc.
- Manages site-specific sales pipelines and opportunity tracking
- Ensures Estimating and/or related functions understand the voice of the customer as part of Bid/No Bid reviews and subsequent quoting initiatives
- Holds Estimating and/or related functions accountable for adhering to RFQ due dates and ALIGN approval policies
- Leverages data to advocate for customer strategies and pricing to improve win rate and profitability
- Leads customer visits and presentations
- Partners with Program/Account Management for resolution of customer concerns as needed, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Product quality
- Delivery schedules
- Pricing
- Contract performance
- Acts as primary internal liaison with operational functions to ensure successful execution of existing and new programs
- Partners with the broader ALIGN Business Development organization to drive growth through new business opportunities, customer relationship management, and market expansion
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
- Required:
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in functions such as:
- Business Development, Sales, Program Management, Account Management, Estimating, Contracts, or Supply Chain
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus advanced training
- Preferred:
- Experience with the aerospace and defense market
- Understanding of CNC Machining and/or metallic manufacturing
- Understanding of estimating and pricing for manufacturing
Technical Skills:
- Ability to lead others in problem-solving, customer communications, and deadline adherence
- Ability to identify best practices and champion continuous improvement
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating system
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with business development principles
- Ability to thrive in a changing, fast-paced growing, and dynamic business
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May directly supervise individual contributors, depending on business needs. Supervisory responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned staff.
- Estimates staffing needs.
- Assigns work.
- Recommends candidates for employment and makes recommendations for terminations.
- Conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.
- Responsible for the application of company policies.
Travel Required: Occasional to frequent travel is possible
