Description

Position Summary


The Sales Account Manager reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing and is responsible for managing customer accounts and supporting business development activities for Wingard Aerospace. This position serves as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, overseeing the customer relationship from quotation through production while ensuring exceptional customer service and satisfaction.


Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance, the Sales Account Manager coordinates quotations, contract reviews, production schedules, and customer communications to ensure customer requirements are met while supporting the Company's growth objectives.

Account Management

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned customer accounts through timely, professional communication.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding quotations, orders, delivery schedules, and general account support.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with customers regarding ongoing programs and future business opportunities.
  • Complete account plans for major customers, review current revenue opportunity pipelines, program outlook, positive trends, risks and growth actions, and areas to support with insight into capacity constraints.
  • Obtain and monitor customer metrics, customer scorecards, OTD, and quality performance.
  • Identify and communicate risk management, escalation of at-risk revenue, profitability issues, declining demand, competitive threats, and customer dissatisfaction.

Quotation & Contract Administration

  • Prepare customer quotations by reviewing RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate feasibility reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain prior to quotation submission.
  • Maintain quotation records and customer activity within the Company's quotation management and CRM systems.
  • Review incoming purchase orders to verify pricing, delivery requirements, specifications, and contractual terms.
  • Process engineering changes, contract revisions, and job changes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Protect revenue by determining profit margins on executed quotes.

Customer Support & Production Coordination

  • Participate in production meetings and communicate schedule updates, engineering changes, and other relevant information to customers.
  • Coordinate delivery schedule changes with internal departments and customers to ensure timely communication.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve customer concerns related to delivery, quality, and product requirements.
  • Coordinate Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and customer returns in partnership with the Quality Department.
  • Assist with resolving invoicing, payment, and contract-related issues.

Business Development

  • Support sales growth by identifying opportunities within existing customer accounts.
  • Assist with preparing customer presentations, capability information, and sales materials.
  • Attend customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events as assigned.
  • Maintain an active awareness of customer programs and future business opportunities through forecasting, RFQ pipeline, expected awards, losses, and significant demand changes.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete customer surveys, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), supplier registration forms, and other customer-required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity within CRM and ERP systems.
  • Prepare reports related to quotations, sales activity, and customer account performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in account management, customer service, sales, or business development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting customers in aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or industrial markets is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using CRM and ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for customer visits, trade shows, and business meetings.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an AS9100D or ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems such as JobBOSS, Epicor, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or HubSpot.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, metal fabrication, machining, stamping, or assembly.
  • Formal project management training or experience is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Frequent interaction with customers and cross-functional teams throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, printers, telephones, and other business technology.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Visual and auditory ability to review engineering drawings, quotations, contracts, and customer communications and to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual meetings.

Work Environment

This position works in both an office and manufacturing environment. Exposure to moderate noise levels, moving mechanical equipment, heat, dust, and other typical manufacturing conditions may occur. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering designated production areas.
