Summary:
Location: Durham, NC
Work Mode: Local
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 5X8 M-F, 8AM-4:30PM
Responsibilities:
Collect, segregate, and manage hazardous chemical wastes generated throughout the company, including clinics and research laboratories.
Manage hazardous pharmaceutical wastes, radiological, and universal wastes.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and standards by OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, RCRA.
Communicate with supervisor regarding policies and procedures for assuring compliance.
Lift 50 lbs., manipulate 400 lb. drums, and be physically able to wear respiratory protection.
Work in various environments, including those with "immediately dangerous to life and health" (IDLH) atmospheres, requiring protective clothing and equipment.
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Health and Safety or related field (Highly preferred).
Valid Driver's license and ability to operate company-owned vehicle.
Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental science, EHS, or safety.
Self-starter, ambitious, and abides by safety principles.
DOT RCRA certified.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous material management.
Basic knowledge of chemistry and related sciences.
Ability to segregate various waste substances for shipping or treatment.
Proficiency in utilizing computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports.
