As a Safety Specialist in Los Angeles, CA, you will be at the heart of ensuring safe, reliable journeys for thousands every day. Your expertise will help secure the Automated People Mover system, connecting communities and supporting sustainable mobility across the city.
Your role, Your impact
Lead the development and oversight of Public Transit Agency Safety Plan requirements for APM operations.
Develop, implement, and enforce Roadway Worker Protection programs, including training and compliance monitoring.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures aligned with regulatory and operational safety needs.
Provide field safety oversight for operations, maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure safe execution.
Support and lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Youll work with sharp, committed teams across engineering, operations, and design - solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility. As Safety Specialist, you will drive operational excellence and safety culture in every aspect of the Automated People Mover system.
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Transportation, or equivalent experience.
Experience or understanding of rail transit, Automated People Mover systems, or regulated environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessments and safety analyses.
Ability to develop and enforce SOPs in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Proven communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to build trust-based relationships and empower teams.

Effective implementation and compliance with CPUC, OSHA, and safety regulations.
Continuous improvement in safety performance metrics and reduction of incidents.
