Safety Program Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Ensures the effectiveness of the district/department safety committees and serves as an ad-hoc member of all such committees
• Establishes target area and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives
• Attends meetings and training as directed by organization.
• Collaborates with Engineering and company contractors to assure safety compliance and practices for field operations
• Recommends process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards
• Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs
• Responsible for coordinating evacuations drills at each Southern district office
• Performs Root Cause Analyses for each accident, incident, or exposure
• Reports on and reviews findings from accident investigations and facilities inspections programs

• Three years of experience as a safety professional in the utility industry; or equivalent experience in construction, emergency response, or field work in the water utility industry
• OSHA 30 Compliance Certification (preferred)
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office application
• Requires travel 50%; most will be day trips

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience
