Safety Professional / Lift Director – Data Center Construction

Job Brief

Vantage Trades Group LLC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Safety Professional / Lift Director to support a large-scale data center construction project. This is a specialized field safety position requiring an experienced construction safety professional with extensive hands-on knowledge of hoisting, rigging, crane operations, critical lifts, and lift-director responsibilities.

This is not an entry-level or general Safety Professional position. Candidates must meet all mandatory experience requirements to be considered.

The selected professional will perform the full responsibilities of a site Safety Professional, including field safety inspections, hazard identification, JHA/JSA review, regulatory compliance, incident prevention and investigation, corrective actions, toolbox talks, documentation, and coordination with field supervision. In addition, this individual will provide specialized oversight of lifting and rigging activities and must demonstrate the technical knowledge and field experience required to serve as a qualified Lift Director.

Mandatory Qualifications

Candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of full-time hoisting and rigging experience.
• Minimum 3 years of documented experience working specifically as a Lift Director.
• Previous data center construction experience is mandatory.
• Current or previous professional certification/qualification in rigging and lifting operations.
• Must possess the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully complete the client's Lift Director examination/qualification process.
• OSHA 30 Construction required.
• Extensive knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, load control, load charts, critical lifts, lift planning, signaling, fall protection, and construction safety requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable OSHA construction standards and industry requirements related to cranes, derricks, hoisting, and rigging.
• Ability to review and evaluate lift plans, identify lifting hazards, verify controls, participate in pre-lift meetings, and stop operations when unsafe conditions exist.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with crane operators, riggers, signal persons, foremen, superintendents, project management, and safety leadership.
• Strong written documentation, communication, and field leadership skills.

Safety Responsibilities

In addition to Lift Director responsibilities, the selected professional will be expected to conduct routine and high-risk activity inspections, identify and correct unsafe conditions, review JHAs/JSAs and pre-task plans, monitor PPE and fall-protection compliance, participate in incident and near-miss investigations, document corrective actions, conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks, and maintain compliance with project-specific safety requirements.

Preferred Credentials

BCSP credentials such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or SMS are strongly preferred. Additional NCCCO/NCCER or equivalent credentials related to Lift Director, Rigger, Signal Person, crane operations, or hoisting and rigging are highly desirable.

Project Benefits

This is a well-compensated opportunity supporting a major data center construction project. Meals are provided on site. Per diem may also be available for qualifying assignments/candidates, depending on project requirements and assignment conditions.
