Because construction will take place alongside active distribution operations, the successful candidate must be comfortable managing overlapping work activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and addressing hazards before they impact employees, contractors, or site productivity. Safety Manager | Active Distribution Center Retrofit Location: West Jefferson, OH Start Date: ASAP Duration: Approximately 6 Months Employment Type: 1099 ContractorCompensation Rate: $48-$51 per hour Per Diem: Not Available Pay Frequency: WeeklyProject Schedule Shift Length: 10-12 Hours Per Day Schedule: Monday-Saturday Rotation: 10 Days On / 4 Days Off Shift: Day ShiftProject OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a major retrofit project inside an active Amazon distribution center in West Jefferson, OH.This is a high-visibility, field-focused position responsible for protecting personnel, equipment, and ongoing facility operations while construction activities are completed within a fully operational environment. The Safety Manager will work closely with the general contractor, subcontractors, project leadership, and facility representatives to identify risks, enforce safety expectations, and maintain compliance throughout the project.Because construction will take place alongside active distribution operations, the successful candidate must be comfortable managing overlapping work activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and addressing hazards before they impact employees, contractors, or site productivity.Qualification RequirementsCandidates must meet at least one of the following qualification pathways: Four-year degree in safety, occupational health, construction management, or a related field Current BCSP certification OSHA 500 certification with at least six years of professional safety experienceCandidates must also possess: Experience managing safety on commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or distribution facility construction projects Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements Experience conducting field inspections, compliance audits, and hazard assessments Ability to manage construction safety within an active operational facility Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills Ability to work directly with contractors, subcontractors, field personnel, and project leadership Authorization to work in the United StatesKey Responsibilities Oversee daily field safety operations and project compliance activities Conduct routine jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments Monitor construction activities occurring around active facility operations Enforce project safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Lead site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions Identify unsafe behaviors, conditions, and operational conflicts before incidents occur Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, and reported safety concerns Develop, communicate, and track corrective action plans Maintain accurate inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and safety logs Evaluate contractor and subcontractor compliance with established safety standards Partner with project management to resolve safety concerns without unnecessarily disrupting operations Promote accountability and a proactive safety culture throughout the projectIdeal ExperienceThe ideal candidate has successfully managed construction safety in a complex commercial or industrial environment where work activities must be carefully coordinated around ongoing operations.Experience involving the following areas is highly desirable:• Construction safety management• Active-facility or occupied-site construction• OSHA compliance• Hazard recognition and risk mitigation• Contractor and subcontractor oversight• Incident and near-miss investigations• Safety auditing and field inspections• Corrective action management• Safety training and employee engagement• Regulatory documentation and reportingSkillsConstruction Safety Management | OSHA Compliance | Hazard Recognition | Risk Assessment | Safety Auditing | Incident Investigation | Contractor Coordination | Training and Development | Regulatory Compliance | Corrective Action Management | Leadership | CommunicationEqual Opportunity EmployerOur company is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
