SAFETY MANAGERMechanical Construction | Amazon Data Center ProjectLocation: Waterbury, ConnecticutStart Date: ASAPProject Duration: 3-4 MonthsEmployment Type: 1099 ContractorJOIN A HIGH-PROFILE DATA CENTER PROJECTWe are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to provide full-time, on-site safety leadership for a mechanical contractor supporting an active Amazon data center project in Waterbury, Connecticut.This opportunity offers a consistent Monday-Friday day-shift schedule, competitive hourly compensation, and the chance to support a high-visibility commercial construction project.The selected professional will serve as the primary safety authority for the mechanical contractor, working closely with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, craft personnel, and client representatives.COMPENSATION Contractor Rate: $52-$57 per hour Pay Frequency: Weekly Per Diem: Not availableCandidates must be local to the Waterbury area or able to work in Waterbury without per diem or relocation assistance.WORK SCHEDULE Hours: 40 hours per week Schedule: Monday through Friday Shift: 7:00 AM-3:00 PMPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Safety Manager will provide visible, hands-on safety oversight for mechanical construction activities within an active data center environment.This position requires a confident field leader who can proactively identify hazards, reinforce project safety expectations, communicate effectively with crews and leadership, and maintain accurate, client-ready documentation.The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing strong safety enforcement with the operational demands of an active construction project.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide daily, on-site safety leadership for mechanical construction activitiesOversee and enforce site-specific safety programs, policies, and proceduresConduct daily jobsite inspections, field audits, and hazard assessmentsIdentify unsafe conditions and coordinate immediate corrective actionsReview job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, permits, and safety documentationLead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee orientationsEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations and client-specific safety standardsInvestigate incidents, near misses, and safety concernsComplete incident reports, root-cause reviews, and corrective action trackingMaintain accurate and professional safety records and reportsCoordinate with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and client representativesMonitor contractor compliance and reinforce safe work practices throughout the projectSupport mechanical scopes involving piping, equipment installation, hot work, material handling, and elevated workREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS OSHA 500 certification Minimum six years of full-time construction safety management experience Experience supporting large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations Strong written documentation and reporting capabilities Professional verbal communication and field leadership skills Ability to work full-time on site for the entire project durationPREFERRED EXPERIENCEPriority consideration will be given to candidates with experience in: Data center construction Mechanical construction, piping, HVAC, or equipment installation Large general contractor or high-compliance project environments Hot work, elevated work, material handling, and equipment installation safety Client-facing safety meetings and professional reporting Managing multiple crews and subcontractors across active work areasWHO WILL SUCCEED IN THIS ROLEThe strongest candidate will be:A credible and professional field safety leaderConfident addressing unsafe behavior directly and respectfullySkilled at building working relationships with project leadership and field personnelOrganized, responsive, and detail-orientedComfortable producing polished, client-ready documentationProactive in identifying hazards before they result in incidentsCapable of enforcing standards without unnecessarily disrupting productionThis is a field-focused position.
