    This Team Lead role reports directly to the Process Engineer. The lead assists leadership with daily activities regarding safety to ensure that the plant is meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The Lead communicates daily, weekly, and monthly requirements and expectations within the facility. The Lead will be involved in most operational safety aspects of all shifts. They will provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding performance of the safety program and engagement of employees within the facility.

    1. Champion safety program(s) to promote a safety-first culture at the plant

    2. Create, revise, and update safety material

    3. Gather data by reading machine equipment, gages, prints and precision measuring instruments to serve safety mission

    4. Maintain all record keeping associated with safety program(s)

    5. Communicate safety progress with plant leadership

    6. Oversee the safety orientation program

    7. Coach employees and give feedback as needed regarding safety

    8. Lead a safety HPT

    9. Occasional travel required for additional training and/or best-practice sharing

    10. Flexible schedule with all shifts weekly, and as needed

    11. Help execute the site safety plan with attention to OSHA-compliance

    12. Perform tasks as assigned by leadership

    13. Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers

    14. Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.

    DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

    • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

    • Maintain production schedules.

    • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

    • Other duties may be assigned later.

    Education required/ preferred:

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

    Experience:

    3- 5 years' management or supervisory experience.

    Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

    • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

    • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

    • Sound decision making skills

    • Good math, reading, writing skills

    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

    • Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product

    • Strong trouble shooting skills

    • Demonstrated teamwork and teambuilding skills.

    • Ability to assess and develop individual and team skills and capabilities.

    • Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for challenges.

    • Serve as model by promoting safety, new ideas and positive change.

    • OSHA 10 hour, or other safety certification preferred

    Skills/Competencies:

    1. Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office package

    2. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

    Other Skills:

    Ability to work well in a team environment

    Experience with LEAN teams or leading LEAN teams is preferred

    Assessment:

    Employee must pass Pre-employment screening
