    Description

    GENERAL FUNCTION: Inspects work areas and/or work practices to ensure compliance with safety rules and objectives. Prepares and maintains reports related to safety. Works under the general supervision of a Safety or Plant Manager.

    TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

    Instructs employees and supervisors on proper safety practices and techniques.

    Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations.

    Monitors and ensures continued adherence of safety rules and procedures.

    May investigate employee complaints concerning unsafe working conditions.

    Responds to workplace safety or security emergencies and issues.

    Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of state and Federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and workers compensation. Good knowledge of plant operations or the ability to acquire it a timely manner. Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Completion of standard education supplemented by training in first-aid. Some plant inspector or safety administration; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
