This non-sworn position provides for additional levels of safety for Sinclair College at the Dayton, Centerville, and Mason campus locations depending on assignment. Part-time Safety Information Officer (SIO) employees are strategically assigned throughout the College campus to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty and staff of the Sinclair Community College.

This position requires that SIOs are assigned, as directed, to any building with the Sinclair Community College campuses, including the Library. SIOs are responsible for reporting any safety issues either observed by, or reported to them. The SIO will interact with all levels of the College to assist in creating a safe environment for employees and students alike.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provide safety for all campus buildings as directed
• Provide safety in the parking areas
• Assist in opening and closing the campus
• Respond to calls from the dispatcher when necessary
• Provide escorts for students and employees in non-violent situations
• Write parking warning tickets in parking areas
• Direct traffic into and out of parking areas
• Provide jump starting service
• Provide lock out service
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required
• Good physical condition required
• Ability to walk at least 50 minutes every hour required
• Ability to stand for 50 minutes every hour, not more than five hours required
• Ability to work outside in any weather conditions for four or more hours required
• Ability to use both upper and lower limbs required
• Good hearing and vision abilities required
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with the public
• Demonstrated proficiency in clear and effective radio communication
• Basic computer skills required; training may be self-taught or completed in a classroom setting required
• Strong team-building and collaboration skills required
