    Description

    Fresh Mark in Massillon, Ohio, is looking for an EHS Safety Coordinator.

    The Safety Coordinator will help foster and maintain a safe, compliant, and injury-free workplace within a manufacturing environment. This position supports facility operations by assisting with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety, health, and environmental programs. The Safety Coordinator partners with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive safety performance, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Identify workplace hazards and unsafe conditions that may result in injury, illness, equipment damage, property loss, or environmental incidents.
    • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of manufacturing equipment, production processes, maintenance activities, and work areas.
    • Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and safety incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Assist managers and supervisors in developing safety objectives, action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives that support operational and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Deliver and coordinate employee safety training programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts), Hearing Conservation, Fall Protection, PPE, Emergency Response, and Contractor Safety.
    • Support and monitor compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), confined space, hot work, and other site-specific safety programs as applicable.
    • Partner with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure new equipment, process changes, and facility modifications are reviewed for safety impacts.
    • Perform behavioral and compliance-based safety observations and coach employees on safe work practices.
    • Maintain safety records, training documentation, incident reports, and regulatory compliance files.
    • Lead and facilitate facility Safety Committee meetings and participate on cross-functional teams to support continuous safety improvement initiatives.
    • Monitor employee and contractor compliance with established safety requirements and promptly address unsafe behaviors or conditions.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; equivalent manufacturing safety experience may be considered.
    • 2+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, food processing, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety principles.
    • Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, risk assessments, and employee training.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to interact effectively with employees, supervisors, maintenance personnel, contractors, and leadership at all levels.
    • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence a positive safety culture.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management systems preferred.
    • Ability to work in production environments that may involve noise, temperature variations, manufacturing equipment, and walking throughout the facility.
