About the Role

A leading professional services and construction management organisation is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support a large-scale pharmaceutical/life sciences construction project in Holly Springs, NC.

This is a high-visibility, client-facing, on-site opportunity for a safety professional with a strong construction or industrial background who is looking to work within a major pharmaceutical environment.

You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of site safety programs, maintaining regulatory compliance, and helping drive a strong safety culture across contractors, subcontractors, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site safety representative, working closely with project leadership and client representatives.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans, JHAs/JSAs, and safety programs.

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs.

  • Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety requirements, permits, and site procedures.

  • Support toolbox talks, safety orientations, and new-hire onboarding.

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Maintain safety documentation, training records, incident logs, and OSHA recordkeeping.

  • Support emergency response planning and participate in emergency drills.

  • Coordinate safety requirements associated with pharmaceutical/life sciences construction environments.

  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, client safety teams, and project leadership.

  • Track and report site safety metrics and KPIs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of safety coordination/management experience, ideally within construction, industrial, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.

  • OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/501 highly desirable.

  • Experience supporting large-scale capital construction or facility projects.

  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, GMP, or other highly regulated project experience is strongly preferred.

  • Relevant safety certifications such as CHST, STS, ASP, or CSP are advantageous.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, and project leadership.

  • Ability to work on an active construction site and comply with PPE requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
