    Role: Safety Coordinator
    Location: Kansas City, MO

    The Safety Engineer will lead and continuously improve occupational health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable state and local regulations while reducing workplace hazards, incidents, and risks.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain safety policies, programs, and procedures.
    • Conduct safety inspections, audits, JHAs, risk assessments, and process safety reviews.
    • Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage using root-cause analysis.
    • Implement and track corrective and preventive actions.
    • Lead employee safety training, orientations, and awareness programs.
    • Manage LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, hot work, fall protection, PPE, and emergency response programs.
    • Monitor contractor safety and maintain OSHA records and regulatory documentation.
    • Support workers’ compensation and return-to-work activities.
    • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, Quality, and Leadership on safety initiatives and equipment installations.
    • Track safety metrics and support ISO 45001, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and safety committees.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related technical field.
    • 3–5 years of safety experience.
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, OSHA recordkeeping, industrial hygiene, machine safety, LOTO, hazard communication, and risk management.
    • Experience in incident investigation, safety training, and corrective action management.
    • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.

    Preferred Certifications

    CSP, ASP, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, First Aid/CPR, ISO 45001, CIH, Lean/Six Sigma.
