Safety Compliance Specialist

Location: Milwaukee Area, WI
Position Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday (Potential for 1 day/week remote after training)
Salary: $70,000–$90,000 annually (higher compensation may be considered for candidates with management experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Safety Compliance Specialist to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career safety professional looking to build their career within a manufacturing environment and advance into a future Safety Manager role.
The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of safety and compliance experience, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment. Candidates with experience in industrial manufacturing and a strong understanding of OSHA and environmental compliance regulations are also encouraged to apply.
This position will play a key role in supporting workplace safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, employee training, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement programs throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of company safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through positive leadership and employee engagement.
  • Monitor facility compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to reduce workplace risks.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring timely reporting and corrective action implementation.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Hazard Communication programs.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements, including state and federal compliance reporting.
Training & Employee Engagement
  • Coordinate and conduct employee safety training programs.
  • Support OSHA-required training initiatives and regulatory compliance education.
  • Serve as a resource for employees, contractors, and management regarding safety-related questions and concerns.
  • Facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings and document action items.
  • Promote hazard reporting and proactive safety participation throughout the organization.
Emergency Preparedness & Environmental Programs
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Emergency Action Plans and Fire Prevention Plans.
  • Coordinate and document emergency drills and safety exercises.
  • Support hazardous waste management programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor facility housekeeping programs and document findings for management review.
Facility Safety Monitoring
  • Conduct regular evaluations of facility conditions, including:
    • Building interiors
    • Exterior grounds
    • Parking lots
    • Walkways and common areas
  • Prepare written reports identifying safety concerns and recommendations for improvement.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve workplace safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation of corrective actions and safety initiatives.
  • Support company efforts to strengthen safety culture and achieve operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years of safety and compliance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred
  • 1–3 years of safety experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of EPA regulations and hazardous waste programs.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and employee training programs.
